Hi Steve, The panel is entitled Windows Security Center. On the left side of the panel are: Windows Update; Windows Firewall; Windows Defender; Get the latest security and virus information online from Microsoft; and Change the way the security center alerts me. In the middle panel I see it says I need to make sure the four security essentials are marked on. They are: Firewall; Automatic Updating; Malware Protection and Other security settings which are--Internet Security Settings and User Account Control. All are turned on except User Account Control which is off since I'm the only one using the computer and yet I get security alerts. and the scan question. Uncle Dewey
