You have a less expensive video device that doesn't have a seperate TV out "engine"..
Your device shares resources and hardware between the two sources so this is normal.
It is a function in the drivers and the hardware so the manufacturer of the computer
or the video adaptor will have to answer your question, but generally, if this is
how it works and there are no settings in the drivers for that option, you are stuck
with having to do it this way.
It's pretty much normal actually. When a device isn't sensed on the TV out port,
the driver sets the environment for your monitor. Not sharing the output with your
TV changes the monitor resolution and refresh rate to the higher settings for your
computer monitor. Enabling the TV output requires different settings to be implemented
for both the monitor and the TV output since they are sharing the same hardware.
I assume you are connecting to composite or SVHS out to the TV. It's pretty much
how they all work with the exception of some very expensive video adaptors with seperate
"engines" to drive different outputs independently.
If your computer monitor resolution changes when the TV out is enabled, this is normal
on most devices where it is an onboard device or less expensive video adaptor. I
don't think you will find that it will operate differently at this point. I've never
found a reg hack that would control it any differently...
