Thank you Daniel and Adam. Personally I agree with everything you said. I have updated
the malwareebytes and superantispyware products manually and run full scans. This
is a very clean system. Webroot & Trend Micro are good products but cost money, so
like you I'd never use them.
I use AVG Free myself, but I know Avast is fine too.
I think it's the technical challenge more than anything. I am now at IE7 and no change.
I'd go to IE6 if Vista would let me!
The problem is that IE has its tentackes into so many things. I didn't mention Itunes,
but it fails in the same way. Windows Updates fails (yeah, I know! :-))
I went into Safe Mod - same exact misbehavior.
I think this system was hit by something like a blue screen type of hardware problem,
and I just can't find it. My last recommednation to the woman will be to reinstall
Vista.
