Wow, that is so weird, it's probably right!! A weird solution to a rather weird problem.
I have never heard of this, of course, but will pursue. I wish you remembered more
or had an annoyances.org thread on your problem.
Just to clarify, please, you are talking about the old-fashioned modem used for dial-up
built into all of our computers, and not the cable modem, right?
Why was changing the MTU hard? Registry edite?
