Sadly, I expect that what you downloaded has trashed your Registry or something similar. I never download stuff that hasn't got a personal recommendation, or I do it to an expendable system. Can you explain what exactly you have been trying to do with an Acronis image ? If you are restoring an entire disk there's no way a software fault can carry across - unless you made the image after the problem was there. Given the chance that you've acquired malware (by that route, or another one) I'd anyway start by running full scans with both MalwareBytes and SuperAntispyware, which are both free. That IS a personal recommendation ! If you are unable to download them to the target PC, you can do so to another and install from a CD or flash drive. PS You would not be the first person to find their system has been damaged by a registry "cleaner". I would stop using them altogether - its a long explanation which you can have if you really want it !
