I just had the same problem, I had to go into device mangler (manager) and tell vista
"I don't have my disc" and then point to the AD1985\SMAXWDM\W2K_XP folder. Vista
then found the driver, Then I had a different "unkown device" I told vist to search
for the driver and it found on and now it is working. I hope this fixes you problem.

You can also try the Asus site to see if they have an updated driver.

Just for the fun of it, try using this driver: http://www.aspergers.eu/audio.zip
Let me know if it works? It did for me, on my Asus P4P800-E deluxe.

They have a lot of drivers for Asus.
Best regards,
