Install error

I am trying to upgrade an XP PC to Beta 2. The error is: "an error occurred while
preparing Windows to boot into the next stage of setup". I got the error at 21%
into the "Expanding Files" step. I get the same error using a DVD with Beta 1.
The PC is an HP/Compaq DX2000 with Celeron 2.66, 256 RAM, 40 GB drive, 30 GB free.

Gene,
Your ram might be your main culprit. 256 mb is well below recommended minimum for
Vista. I used 388 on one Beta 2 installation and it ran very slow. The 1 gb is
the recommend minimum ram level.
Also, ditch that Celeron chip and get a P4 or good AMD cpu.

I got Vista installed by reformating the hard drive and reinstalling XP, then upgrading
to Vista. There must have been some corruption somewhere. Now to test the apps!
