The .tib image then can be reinstalled sucessfully. I have personally imaged and restored Vista Beta 2 using ATI version 8 several times easily this way. Multi-OS setups will need the partition assignments and boot setup for previous OS preserved. But as a simple imaging backup of Vista installs an ideal solution. XP imaged and restored numerous time without issues to USB2 external drives. Imaging to DVD best only done by copying drive image, not by directly to DVD, too unreliable and slow. In some premium editions of Windows Vista, a new option allows you to create an image-based backup – a la Norton Ghost – rather than a file-by-file backup. In Vista Beta 2, the new image backup feature has a name: CompletePC Backup. Looks nice, but I have not yet been able to do a restore.
