hi, i had windows xp pro and windows vista rc1 as a dual boot system. after a few
days, my win xp got corrupted. so i reinstalled winxp and lost the boot loader to
vista. i want to create a bootloader that will help me to boot into xp or vista.
i do not know how to use bcdedit or bootmgr or ohter tools to repair the vista installation.
can any one help?

Boot from the Vista DVD, on one of the first screens there will be an option to fix
the boot files. Don't remember exactly what it says but it's obvious.

I have the same problem. But the boot fix on vista dvd doesn't work. It says that
everything is ok, and Vista is booting ok, but when I restart my pc, I still can
get the screen to choose loading Vista. Only xp starts.

Install Neo Technologies EasyBCD. Its very useful and easy to use. Will fix any boot
loader or files.

Boot from your DVD and then when you see the "Install Now", look at the bottom left
you will see "repair ....." select that. Click "next" and then select the "command
prompt"
in the command prompt type your dvd rom drive letter for example E:
then type cd boot
then type bootsect /nt60 all
The reason why you can't boot back into Vista is because when you install XP, XP
bootmgr took over and convert your boot to nt52, thus you need to convert it back
to nt60 (vista).
