Dual boot XP Media Center and Vista 64bit

Is it possible to dual boot XP Media Center (x86) and Vista x64? I have been trying unsuccessfully to do this. Each time I try to install Vista I get the following stop error: 0x0000001E. I have been trying to install Vista to a separate partition on the same hard drive. Could this be causing my problem? Should I try a completely separate hard drive for Vista? Or will these two OSes not play nice together? I have a Gateway GT5032 with an 4200+ Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor. Thanks.

Jeffrey

Thanks for the reply, Steve. According to the link you provided, I should not boot from the Vista DVD. Rather, I should install from a running XP installation. Unfortunately, my version of XP is the 32 bit version. You cannot run the Vista 64 bit install program from Windows 32 bit. So, I decided to install it to a separate drive. I was able to install successfully, although I have suffered one BSOD while running Vista (0x0000001D). For the most part it has been running fairly decent. We'll have to wait and see for how long. Thanks again.

Jeffrey

A lot of Vista Users have trouble with Drivers for the 32 bit systems. I bet it will be even harder to get the Drivers sorted out for a 64 bit install.
