A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I too have the same problem. I installed Vista over XP home and now no IE. I went into Control Panel, Internet Connections, Advanced Tab and did a reset which seemed to work for some others but not me. Please help. THANKS!

After 16 hours I discovered that Vista, by default, restricts functions that may
help solve this problem. For me, the following fixed problems that I encountered
with programs stopping including Windows Explorer, IE7, Yahoo, Outlook, Media Player
11 and a host of others. This was after Dell told me to format my hard drive and
reinstall XP2 then install the Vista upgrade .... SAY WHAT?

Turn User Account Control on or off

User Account Control (UAC) can help you prevent unauthorized changes to your computer.
It works by prompting you for permission when a task requires administrative rights,
such as installing software or changing settings that affect other users.

We don't recommend turning User Account Control off. If you do turn it off, you should
turn it back on as soon as possible.

Click to open User Accounts.

Click Turn User Account Control on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator
password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Select the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box
to turn on UAC, or clear the check box to turn off UAC, and then click OK.

>I recently had this problem and it was resolved with the help of the microsoft support team. You were to re-install the Windows xp program because the Vista upgrade is said to not install without it. Microsoft does not like to advertise the fact that is there is an error, you can reinstall the Vista upgrade as a clean install, but do not enter the product key until afterwards. You will then reinstall the program again, but this time install the program as the upgrade. The cause of the problem is that if the upgrade is either installed as a clean install, the product key is not the correct key for a full upgrade, so eventually the program stops working. Also, if the program is not registered properly it will also shut down, and a message may appear, that you product is not a geniune Vista product. Thats because a upgrade key was entered. It's best to do a phone registration, and make sure that the confimation code is properly entered because for all of the above reasons, the program will shut down. It is best to run the Windows program first, because the drivers are already there. With a clean install you will have to vistit the web site of the manufacturer and sownload all of the drivers after installing the program. Good luck, and please pass this information to all that are having these problems. the program is fairly new, and a lot of the problems stem from the sales persons not properly informing the purchasers on the proceedures of properly installing the program

I have a new DELL desktop with Vista. IE7 is getting this "Internet Explorer has stopped working" message as soon as I start it. I have created a few Internet shortcuts on my desktop to start IE7 with various pages as the initial page (my.yahoo.com, comcast.net, www.annoyances.org). My home page is my.yahoo.com, but often when I start IE7 it pops this message and stops immediately. Also happens with the comcast.net shortcut. But when I start the shortcut for www.annoyances.org, it never gets the error. Then I can navigate anywhere on the web and it stays running. The other time I get this error is if I start typing a long search into the Google toolbar search window. After about 16 characters, IE7 freezes completely and I have to start Task Mgr to kill it. Any ideas?

I suggest you start a new thread in the Windows 7 forum, and include the text of any error messages you are getting.
