sidebar and function keys

How do we put the sidebar options on the desktop? Do you have to subscribe to a
service to get the "Headlines" and "Weather" to show up? What about putting the
function keys there as well?
Thanks again!

The new Windows Search is a wonderful thing...try it!!!! :-)
Start>Start Search> start typing in "Sidebar" without the quotes and by the time
you type in S-I, Sidebar is at the top of the list.
Since the typing cursor defaults to the Start Search box, if you're a keyboard kommando
just hit the Windows Key and start typing your search term.
The feeds are the ones you subscribe to at the various websites offering them, they
are the same as the ones you set up in IE, Firefox, etc. You can customize the list.
Personally I like to use all of the screen for workspace so I'm not using the sidebar,
but I think if I got a widescreen monitor I might set it up to see if I liked it.

Thanks! I thought there was a way you could access it from CP too, but I don't remember.
I saw one of the laptops in our store w/ the Function keys on the desktop too, but
I haven't been able to find out where to do that either.

Here's a link to a boatload of Gadgets for the Sidebar:
http://vista.gallery.microsoft.com/vista/SideBar.aspx?mkt=en-us
I didn't see anything for keyboard function keys, but these things are going to be
multiplying like rabbits so keep checking there and with Google at the usual software
download sites.

Thanks! Would you happen to know the differences between a router, switch, hub,
and access point?

"router, switch, hub, and access point"
to my knowledge router, hub and access point are pretty much the same thing. You
would use a router to share your network so people can access each computer or share
an internet connection. I think access point typically refers to this as well, if
you have a wireless router...which is better value, you would consider that an access
point because anyone with wireless could then access your network via it. I think
hub is pretty much the same thing again, although usually allows more connections
than a domestic hub. The only one im not entirely sure on is switch, but i reckon
google can answer that
hope this is of some help, im sure dan will clarify it for you, he's an encyclopedia
of knowledge

Could you please pass this info on to Dan, so that I could get a better understanding?
Thanks!
