I cannot find a way to take my graphics card nvidia5900 out of 3d mode, it's running
at a constant 80 degrees celcius in Windows Vista.

I tried disabling the Aero stuff and went back to a basic desktop, but this doesn't
affect the graphics card in any way as it constantly runs at full pelt. In XP it
runs at a stedy 50 degrees when not running games.

Please help

Did you install the lates drivers for your card? if not, try this link http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_97.46.html

Note that the latest nvidia drivers provide very poor performance for gaming (nvidia
says they are working on it), and does not support SLI (dual video cards-not an issue
for most users).

Just a little warning :)
