Purchased a new HP Pavilion with Windows Vista operating system. I find that I
can no longer use the scanning function of my HP 6100 printer, although I can still
print. Attempts
to upgrade the printer have proved futile. Any Help?

HP has a tutorial to get their Printer, and Scanners working with Vista. Give the
Web site a visit.

I'm not sure if this is your problem (hp director not starting) but if so it's an

Your machine came with Vista Basic that does not include the function fax and scanning.
You need to upgrade Vista to the next best version.
I have the same problem with a HP1210 all in one printer scanner though I can scan
using paint but I don't get pdf documents, only jpg, bmp, etc.
You might have more luck trying word tools if you have it.
