Hi everybody. I just bought a brand new gateway computer. It is a GT5414E. It is a Windows Vista computer. All of a sudden this weird blue screen keeps popping up saying," Kernal_data_inpage_error." Does anyone know what this means? I have Spy Sweeper and Micro Antivirus, both of which I run everyday. It says I dont have any viruses. Does anyone know what is wrong? Please help if you can.

Do you have TrendMicro AV http://www.trendmicro.com/en/home/us/home.htm
or MicroAntivirus http://microantivirus.com/?hop=doodie1949?

MicroAV does not advertise itself as Vista compatible. Uninstall it and see if there
is any improvement.

BIOS manufacturers should not clear the IDE Decode Enable bit in the _STM ACPI method
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913379/en-us

If it's the above, then that's gonna be a fix that has to come from Gateway.

We just bought the exact same computer (from Best Buy) and we have the same anti virus and spyware sweeper you do. We got that same blue screen message 3 times. The Geek Squad couldn't fix it, so they're giving us a brand new computer. If it's a configuration problem though, the new computer isn't going to make a difference. To the original author, I'm curious if you ever got your problem resolved??? Thanks
