sidebar and calendar not working, and live messenger won't run

wen i first got my computer, all was fine, but then sidebar stopped working like
after 2 weeks, but didn't really bother me, then my hard drive crashed, and i got
that replaced, and got it back, with vista re-installed, again, the sidebar has stopped
working, now the calendar has stopped working, and also wen i install live messenger
form the link vista comes with, it won't run..
at the moment, i prefer xp!!
