I have a question about When
I choose "Shut Down" from the Start Menu, my computer restarts instead of shutting
down: I've read that it may be caused by Roxio program, but how do i fix it
if it is Roxio. I had it pre installed on my hp when I purchased it. (Roxio MyDVD
Basic v. 9)

Not sure, but you should go to Roxios's website & look through their support areas
to see if they have a fix for the problem. Good Luck.

This is actually an annoying default in vista that is easily changed in the power
options in the control panel, click on the change power plan on the power plan that
you are currently using then about half way down the window click on Change advanced
power settings, depending on if your computer is a desktop or a laptop this might
look different there should be on option in the menu that says power buttons or power
buttons and lid, expand it and you will see another option that says start menu power
button, expand it and you will see 1 or 2 options again depending on if you have
a desktop or a laptop just select the blue word sleep and change it to shut down
and hit ok, then in the edit plan settings hit save changes and now your start menu
button should shut your computer down instead of using the annoying sleep feature.

Lucas I tried to change the power settings and still am restarting instead of shutting
down. I plan on calling HP and getting some more info. I don't know if you've ever
dealt with their support line, but it'll take a while on hold and then have to listen
to someone who's dialect makes it hard to understand them read from a script. Anyone
else have any solutions to this problem? (restarts instead of shut down on vista
ran by HP Pavilion dv6205us)

Never did get a good response on a fix. However, I was told recently to remove the
wireless connection to my dest top and connect my modem via an ethernet cable and
the problem will be corrected. I have not tried it yet.

Having the same problem on my desktop. Running Vista ultimate, 32bit version. System
restarts when I try to shutdown. Has anyone found a concrete solution?

I am having the same problem. I also have a HP Pavilion laptop its a HPDV6528TX.
I haven't had a chance to call HP again. I have been through and changed the power
saving information to shut down. Also if my computer goes to sleep I can't wake
it up again and have to restart it.
