Vista and XP boots into XP only.

Installed XPro as 2nd.OS will boot into XP only.
Booting into Vista produces this message:
File is missing or corrupt System32\Hal.dll
How do I get back to Vista?Have to get back
since I can't get the sound on XP.Sofar I am unable
to find the drivers for it.Tried package afrom HP
sp32898.exe but then I got error "Device not found".
So have to get Vista back since no audio or video player will work.
Trying to find an answer on various sites there are lots of
people with similar problem but no remedy sofar.
Can't solve this on my own.Should I post this on XP forum also?
Thanks'
Alex

Thanks for the reply. No can do.Vista was preinstalled. If I use those 4 recovery disks
will be where I was before.Recovery partition ,Vista partition then XP partition.
And I don't want to screw the recovery partition could end up with an expensive piece
of useless junk.

Try Vistabootpro to restore the Vista bootloader, there is an option to do that under
the bootloader tab.

You can do it from XP you don't have to be in Vista.

I don't even have it installed in Vista and I changed the default o/s to boot after
the timeout and the name from "earliar version of windows"to XP on the operating
system choice screen.Sorry it didn't work for you.
