Wireless Internet

Hi, wondering if anyone can help at all. I have a wired network, running 3 xp pcs. There is also a wifi dongle that connects to psps and Nintendo Wii. I used to be able to use this wireless connection to connect to an xp laptop also. Now the problem. Have just bought a laptop with Vista, wireless included but it will not connect to the wireless network. I have read about some compatibility issues so I wondered if we could still connect using usb adapters (dongles) or would we need to have the full network as wireless with a router etc? Had no plans to get a full wireless network as the wired one works fine. Just want to be able to connect the vista via wireless. If anyone could point me in the right direction and possible suggestions of usb adapters that will work from xp to vista, I will be very grateful.

The Vista laptop should connect to your router without a problem and you shouldn't have to buy a dongle. Try turning off your security (WEP, WPA, etc.) and allowing your router to broadcast the SSID, then see if it connects. If it does, then re-enable your security and turn off SSID broadcasting and it should connect.
