I know i can turn outbound control on in advanced settings (start - run - wf.msc)
What I want to know is, is there anyway I can be notified when it blocks outgoing,
like it does with incoming?

Thanks

Hi deviant,

On mine, as long as I have the "Notify me when Windows Firewall blocks a new program" checked, Windows Firewall automatically notifies me of a blocked incoming or outgoing new item. It's only for new items though. 1. open Windows Firewall (Control Panel) 2. click on "Change Settings" 3. click on "Exceptions" tab 4. check it at the bottom 5. click OK to apply Hope this helps you some, Shawn

I've got the same problem...I blocked both outgoing and incoming, and I have the "Notify me..." option selected, but I don't get notified. I have to manually add a rule (x2) for any program that I want to have access to the internet. My old McAfee firewall, although it wasn't great, would at least prompt me every time an unfamiliar program tried to access the internet for the first time. Thanks.

Hi Mauvila,

I don't know why you are not being notified. My Windows Firewall was set at the default
settings, if that helps any. It seems like it's another hit and miss item with Vista.

Sorry,
Shawn
