Email Password

In my old outlook Express (XP) I had to sign in and use a password. With Vista the
email just opens when I click on it without any password. I would like my mail to
be private...how do I change this to necessitate a password?

As far as I know, you can't password-protect an identity in Windows Mail, as you
could in OE. In fact, you only get one identity per Vista user account in Windows
Mail. So the only way to keep others out of your Windows Mail is to have them use
a separate Vista user account. You can use a different email client, for example,
I use Outlook 2000 in Vista.

Easy. Go to Tools>Accounts and select your email account. Then click the Properties
button, then the Sever tab. Uncheck the box next to Remember Password. Now every
time you open Windows Mail, you'll be prompted for your Username and Password before
it retrieves your email.

The only problem with entering a password each time, is that everyone can still read
all the email already downloaded, just not the new mail on the server. There just
isn't any way to password-protect the identity, that I'm aware of.

Ah yes, I see what you mean. The only solution that I can see for the OP is to make
sure his windows account is password protected, and not let anyone else access it.
If there are multiple users on the computer, then they should each have their own
user account.
