Windows Media Player 11 won't even load

I'm running Vista on a relatively new HP PC.
Whenever I double click on the shortcut for Windows Media Player on the Start Menu,
the desktop OR the actual program icon in the Windows Media Player icon, I get an
"active" mouse icon for about 2 seconds like something's happening and then nothing
at all. I also checked to see if it's running in the background, but no Windows Media
application appears in the task manager.
I've had several unusual and suspicious things going on with my PC lately and this
doesn't help my growing paranoia. I guess that's par for the course for Microsoft...
Any ideas what's going on and what I can do about it?

If "relatively new" means your pc is under warranty, I'd contact the manufacturer.
It looks like you might need to do a system restore/reinstall, considering this
problem and the one in your previous post.

For Windows Vista Users. (As far as I know, not sure if it works on XP)
First off you need to go to the start menu, click all programs, click accessories
and then right click on command prompt and run it as administrator.
When the command box comes up Type in:
regsvr32 jscript.dll and press enter.
You'll get a successful mesage that comes up, press ok, close the box up. And do
the same process fromt he beginning over again, this time type in:
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
Press Ok and exit.
Home free, done deal, you're good to go. Peace.
