Problem with Favorites Internet Explorer

Among the things that suddenly went bad with my new Vista machine was that IE suddenly
couldn't link to my Favorites when I clicked "Favorites" even though they were out
there in the Favorites folder. I couldn't' save a Favorite either. It sounded
like a simple thing to fix but I tried everything with no luck. But since I had to
return the PC to Best Buy to have the Geek Squad fix the other things (including
hardware problems), they supposedly fixed my Favorites problem too. But now the
problem is now just different. When I click on Favorites in IE, I see the Favorites
that are listed in My Documents/Favorites. So far so good. But when I save a
new favorite, it saves it to another folder within my first Favorite folder so that
when I click on Favorites again, I don't see what I just saved. In other words,
Favorites is now saving new favorites to a folder within my main Favorites folder,
also called Favorites. Is there any way to tell IE to save it to the main folder
or otherwise fix this problem?

Thanks, Special K. I'll save that link. However, I found a solution to the problem
I had by mistake, actually, and I want to post it here in case someone else has this
problem. After searching various forums including the MS IE7 forum but having no
luck, I gave Best Buy (where I bought the new PC) Geek Squad a call. The guy I
talked to was stumped too. As a first step towards diagnosing and fixing it, he
had me copy move drag My Favorites to my desktop but it was obvious that he really
didn't know how to approach this. To both our surprise, that fixed the problem.
When I saved a Favorite, it saved it to Favorites as IE shows them, not a different
folder as it was doing before. The Geek Squad guy was very surprised and had no
idea why that fixed it. It's as if just moving My Favorites re-set something or
maybe they just won't work when in My Documents. I didn't want My Favorites on
my desktop, though, so I just moved the folder so it was outside of My Documents
where it had been. It still works. Thanks for your reply. I'm saving the link
you posted in case I have a need for it in the future.
