clicking to a new tab doesn't go back to original page

e.g. I have 2 tabs on my web page. The 1st one (on the left) is CNN. The 2nd is ESPN. I middle click an article link on Cnn which creates a new tab right next to the CNN tab (i.e. between Cnn and ESPN). When I close this new tab the ESPN page is defaulted to, instead of going back to the original Cnn page. Is there a way to get rid of this annoyance and default back to the original page?

It's by design.
It will always go to the last page loaded (in your case tab two).

Drag the tab you want to see (CNN on your case) all the way to the right, then when you open a new tab and then close it, you will see CNN.
