I am new to this...and in need of help. My new computer has a trial of vista but I will also be needing the office so as to use excel and word for my job. Is it okay to have vista and office on your computer and is this necessary????

Hello, Microsoft Windows Vista is an Operating System. Pretty much, This is what tells your computer what to do.Since you only have a trial of Windows Vista I recommend either getting Windows XP or Windows 95. It is easy to set up, and easy to use. You can then install Microsoft Office 95 (or later) which is used for creating office documents. Office, is software that runs on Windows.

I really hope the Win95 comment was a joke.
I don't know how you can have a trial version of Vista on a new computer unless
it is a home built and you installed an evaluation copy.Maybe post back to clarify
your question.

Might not be to far from the truth. I find the Old Windows ME Computer I still use for Office work more reliable then the Vista Computer I Had. :)

I got a bunch of PC's. I installed Vista on My best Computer.

Had Vista worked well, I had planned on then using the XP License that had been on that Computer, and install XP on the Old Win ME computer I have, and works well for what I use it for. I never thought it was worth the 150 bucks to buy a copy of XP for the old ME computer.

At least I didn't waste any money on the copy of Vista, since it was given to me from a Customer of mine who works for Microsoft.

Since I thought Vista sucked, I decided to (You are right) Upgrade Back to XP, and keep the old Win ME install as is.
