Connect PC's USB/USB crossover cable

Hi,
I bought a USB cross cable (Conceptronic.net) to connect my Desktop and Laptop. My
Desktop has OS XP and my Laptop OS Vista.
All i want is my Laptop have internet access from my Desktop that´s hosting the connection.
I know its possible and i have a PDF on spanish saying how its done...
I could configure my LAN on XP without a problem, since the system detects the cable
after instaling drivers.
On the laptop after instaling the drivers, without problems, when i plug in the cable
it says is not recognizable. Even when i could get it right once i couldn't either
SET a LAN on windows vista (wich is my priority too) has i can on XP.
I'm sorry if i'm reposting this issue, but i searched and couldn't find any answer
to my problems.
Help anyone?! plz...
Thanx

Can you explain a bit more about what you've bought - USB crossover cable. I'm familiar
with ethernet crossover cable and USB to ethernet adapters.
To network 2 machines, you need an ethernet crossover cable and an ethernet port
(which can be via a USB to ethernet adapter) on both machines. If one is hosting
an internet connection and that needs an ethernet port, then will need 2 ethernet
ports on that machine.
If you share the internet connection, the host machine will act as DHCP server (with
the LAN port IP address set to 192.168.0.1) - so set the client machine to pick up
IP address automatically.
However - unless its a dial-up connection, a router is a much better way of sharing
an internet connection - and they are not expensive now.
HTH - post back to clarify what you are doing if this is no help to you.

I have a Cable wich is USB on both sides. My problem is my laptop using Vista, doesn't
detect any network when both computers are connected. On my Desktop computer (XP)
in Computer Management/Device manager shows detected cable, the laptop also but with
THAT yellow triangle. If only i could add a NEW LAN on vista, maybe i could configure
it has i can on XP, but it only allows WAN Network.

So the cable goes into a USB connector in both machines?
Have you looked at any guides on the internet - eg, http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/248?
I have no experience of networking with USB - always use ethernet - so think it best
to leave it to the guides. If you Google 'usb to usb network connection' you'll find
the one above & some others.

Yes, thats it!
Thank you for the tip but i already went to that site but couldn't find any usefull
help because my main problem still is with the Windows Vista.
I can't/don't know how to create a LAN to configure later. The computer only allows
WAN... maybe are the drivers although it detects the device with that yellow triangle.

Does the USB manufacturer have Vista drivers on their site? What does it actually
say in device manager for the device with yellow triangle?
How is the internet connected to the desktop machine? Is there a free ethernet port
on both machines? (if not on PC, easy to add one). Does the laptop have wireless
capability? Have you considered using a crossover ethernet cable instead of USB?
Or buying a wired or wireless router?
