When I ran Windows XP it all worked excellent, I ugraded to home premium vista, through
the upgrade program that acer had, now it takes for ever to hibernate, and it will
not go into sleep mode at all, and it always did prior to the vista upgrade, can
anyone tell me step to step how to fix this?

Double check your settings using this guide to see if it can help you.
