Can't send link in Firefox

For some reason I can not click on File/Send link in the Firefox browser. This is a new PC and on the previous one also running Vista I was always able to do this. When I would click on File/Send Link I would get a Thunderbird Compose window. I've done an EXTENSIVE search on the Internet and the Mozilla forums. I followed all the suggestions and was hoping that the last one concerning GMail on the Google Toolbar might be the problem. The only problem was I don't have the Toolbar even installed. Short of editing the Registry I don't know what to try next. Could some pre-installed programs be causing the problem. I tried to compare the Registry tip that I had seen but the Vista Registry is laid out differently than the XP Registry. Any ideas?

Do you have an email program set as your DEFAULT email program? If using Thunderbird, go to Tools on Menu Bar. Then click on Options. Under the General Tab the first item is System Default. Set it there. Reboot. Try again.

I thought I had responded to your message but apparently did something wrong. Yes, I've sent Thunderbird and Firefox as the default several times, booting in between. Nothing has helped.
