Mouse and Windows Premium Media

My first problem should have a simple fix: After running some apps/games, etc.
the windows media screen ALWAYS pops up, and I don't know how to stop this.
2nd problem is a tough one. I have a 3.4 mhz(duo processor) with an 8800 gt nvidia
card, 2 gb of RAM, and150 g hard drive. My usb mouse is always freezing up, during
games mostly, but I know it has the most updated driver. I'm thinking of buying
a wireless mouse, can anybody help me with this problem? I tried to change the resolution
in the game I play, but it doesn't seem to matter, the mouse is always sticking.
It is a regular dell mouse. I exchanged it with another usb mouse to see if it
was just the mouse, and it is not, it still freezes and makes me hit esc to unfreeze
it. Dont' know what to do!!!! Is there something in the usb drive messing it up,
that is inherient to the motherboard? I plugged the mouse into a different usb slot
and it still does the same thing. The game I'm playing is on the hard drive, doesn't
use the CD disk, so it isn't the game. I am stumped.
