There is allot of system utility software available out there but System Mechanic
is one of the better ones.
My experience with them is that they do have a tendency to screw up your PC.
I stopped using them years ago.
My advise is to use the program to set everything back to default and then get rid
of it.
Good luck!

No kidding, my new computer is totally messed up now. I followed all iolo instructions
to no avil. Tried your suggestion and it sayed it undid what ever it did in the first
place and still the same. I lost ability in keyboard enhanced features ie... internet
launch, email, volume controll, all of it. I just have basic key board functions.
I can't even use buttons to open cd/dvd drive. I even tried a system restore and
I keep getting a pop up saying that my restore point did not go through. Do you have
any other suggestions.

Back up your own files, reinstall Vista and leave it to manage itself.
Of course suppliers of system tools say they work, ineed that they are essential,
but they are increasingly unnecessary and more likely to cause problems than to fix
them.
Sticking my neck out a mile, defragmentation on NTFS systems is also in the same
category.
Sit back, enjoy using your PC, and stop worrying about anything but viruses and security
[ie firewall, virus checker and malware scanners] :-)))
