I visited a friend, and to demonstrate how to join a web forum, I used my name and p/word to log in, now the problem is the site keeps rejecting him for invalid details, I think it must be a cookie problem, however I am not familiar with vista, can someone please put me on the right track? my friend is only a learner so i will have to fix the problem for him. Thank's

Steve, Have you ever had to deal with the "Ask.com" virus? I have seen it listed as such. It is a spirit that lives secretly in the black box and you can't get rid of it, even if you dump all of the cookies etc.

I have not heard of it. I do have one web site I use that seems to remember Me even if I dump the contents of the Cookie Folder. I never really investigated where else it might be storing the information on the Computer though.

Thanks, So far no surprising returns of ask.com You can not manually Del their cookie. Though they are not listed as a evil site, they in-bed their garbage in your system and is very hard to get rid of. I like to use the keyboard shortcut of Ctrl/Enter to complete a web address and ask.com just trashes that out totally and it takes for ever to do any surfing.

Try deleting the files in your temp folder that are older than the current date. BUT BE CAREFUL !!! Be sure the file is not in use by some program. I don't mean the temp internet files. There are other temp or tmp folders.

This is not a temp file. It's not even a cookie. If I remember my original query, I mentioned that it doesn't even show up in the registry. It is nothing more that the fav icon for ASK.com and it won't let you del it. It some how has a built in effect that hijacks your search. It is evil and so far the antivirus providers do not deal with it. Very little ref. on the net so far. People think its a neat help site. Until you're surfing is inhibited by EVERYTHING ASK.COM.
