Dell notebook Vista takes 3-4 mins to shutdown

Dell notebook Vista home premium takes from 3-4 minutes to shut down. Went to regedit
and changed the wait to kill to 3000 instead of 20000 and did not notice any change.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

There is a program or driver that is not allowing Windows to shut it down.
Update all the drivers (if available) for your PC from the manufacturers web site.
Check for updates for any installed programs.
Go to Start/Search, and type in "msconfig.exe". Open it and go to the Startup tab.
Uncheck everything except your anti-virus and any device drivers (i.e. touch pad,
etc.).
You can also go to:
http://www.blackviper.com/
and check out his Vista Services guide.
This guide will help you determine which Vista services you can safely disable.
Good luck!

I had made a registry edit that actually caused this to happen to me, except that
it was more like 10 to 15 minutes wait. Just for grins start your registry editor
(start/run/regedit) and check the following and see if it for some reason hasn't
been altered by something or someone. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Session
Manager/Memory Management/ClearPageFileAtShutdown
Notice that the number under data should look something like 0X00000000 (0)
If the number in parenthesis is 1, double click on ClearPageFileAtShutdown and change
the number to 0.
