Can't open any programs after being logged on for a while.

When I turn on the pc and I start using it everything works fine, but after being
logged on for about 15 minutes my pc acts funny, I can't open any programs or simple
files, such as pictures or text files and right click does not function. At first
I thought it would be memory, but when that happens all I have running is 3 ie windows.
From the 3 ie windows that I have opened I close one to see if that changes anything,
nothing happens, but when i try to open a third ie windows again, I can't, that and
any other program. I have to restart and that helps for a few minutes, but I get
the same problem again. Any help, please?
By the way I use windows vista.
I've tried system restore, but that didn't help. I reinstalled windows vista, I
did not make a clean install just reinstalled windows vista, but that didn't help
neither. I have Norton antivrus and I ran Spybot and everything seems to be fine.
Since yesterday I'm getting something new, everytime I try to scroll, the scroll
bar stops, it does not freeze it just stops and I have to click on the scrollbar
again to keep scrolling. Another thing, when I have multiple ie windows opened
I put one in the back to work on another window, but the one I put behind the other
one comes on by itself.
Here's some info from my system I obtained using Belarc Advisor:

There is a possibility that you're machine is not dumping used program pieces from
memory when finished. Though this is not a prevalent as it used to be, it has always
plagued Windows. Educate yourself on editing the registry a little. Find and start
you Registry Editor, "Run" enter Regedit and hit enter. Go to, "LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer".
Click on Edit/New/Dword and in the new highlighted place give it the name "AlwaysUnloadDll".
Click on that and enter a value of 1. Close and restart.

Thank you for your reply. I did as you indicated, but I did not find "Edit/New/Dword
", all I have is these three options:
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
GlobalASsocChangedcounter REG_DWORD 0x0000003a (58)
IconUnderline REG_DWORD 0x00000002 (2)

You may care to read this [which also applies to Vista] with respect to unloading

Whewn you get to the appropriate locatin in the regedit, then look up at the tool
bar at the top. EDIT is the second item from the Left. NEW is the first item down
and DWORD is the 4th item in that list. I hope this will give a feel of the reg editor.

I'm sorry for offering something that is Printed by Oreilly Press. I guess from your
response they don't know what they are talking about. Or you just like Trying to
look better that others here to help. I would have written this offline where it
belongs, but you have that turned off in your setup.

You are Googling around and posting answers you find when you patently have little
personal knowledge or experience to offer.
The fact that you cite Oreilly just reinforces the fact that you are simply retailing
second-hand the opinions of others. That says nothing about Oreilly, and everything
about you.
This is not responsible behaviour on a public forum.

Alright, I went to the appropriate location, clicked on Edit/New/Dword and gave the
highlighted content "AlwaysUnloadDll" as a name and gave it a value of 1 then restarted
my system, But it's still the same. Any other suggestion?

The fact that you have to insist on disrupting this forum shows that your purpose
here is nothing more that antagonistic in nature. It doesn't matter where I gained
my knowledge. What matters is that I have the appropriate resources and know where
to find the information needed to get these people in need some help. If you are
so smart that you have memorized EVERYTING you had better go kick Mr. Stephan Hawking's
out of his wheelchair, because you must be definitely smarter than he is. Even he
relies on repositories of information. By the way without looking in a book or on
the net "What is the fourth derivative of 'e'"? You can't do it and I don't try.
And as I have stated I built my first analogue computer in in the mid 1960's. Though
I can, I do not have to prove my credentials to you or anyone else. We are supposed
to be here to help others. END OF SUBJECT.

Here's a suggestion: DO NOT edit your computer's registry without first making a
complete backup (which is significantly different from making a backup of files),
and more importantly, DO NOT edit your registry in blind compliance with a suggestion
on a message board. Ask the poster of the registry edit for references that you
can review and judge for yourself whether the suggested edit is first going to do
no harm and second is going to fix your problem.

Did the computer always do this from new or did this just start happening?
If just started, have you re-traced your steps and have you "undone" whatever things
you did right before it started happening, such as uninstall a freshly installed
software program or uninstall a new hardware or peripheral?
What happens when you start VHP into Safe Mode w/networking?

Problem fixed!

Found what was causing the problem by accident. I was doing some driver updates
to my pc, I went to the hp page to find the updates, I downloaded the newest update
for my graphics chips, right when I finished installing the update my pc froze, and
I didn't know if the update installed correctly. I restarted my pc since it froze,
checked if the update was succesfully installed, but I couldn't tell if it did, so
I uninstalled the graphics driver to reinstall the driver again, just to be sure.
Something came up and I had to leave and did not install the driver again, when
I got back I used my pc, turned out it was working perfectly after being turned on
all that time, about 4 hours, something that I could not do anymore, since my pc
would start doing all that weird staff after being turned on for about 30 mins. Everything
was perfect and I got happy the problem fixed on its own, but the way things looked
on my monitor didn't look alright, so I tried to adjust the resolution for my monitor
since I didn't have the driver to it, but it still would not look ok, so I decided
to download the driver along with the update, I downloaded the driver and the update,
installed it succesfully, and adjusted the resolution to my monitor the way I like
it. After using my pc about 30 mins. my pc would start doing the same thing back
again. Turns out that when I set a high resolution, my pc would start doing all that
weird staff, but when I set a low resolution it does not give me any problems. Weird,
I don't know what that update from the hp page is good for, all I know is that it
messes up your pc. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem, which it really
sucks and it's a pain in the neck when you don't know what's going on. My pc is
working perfectly and smoothly now with a low resolution.
