Hopefully you have a top-notch, fully updated antivirus program installed and set to scan your email, AND hopefully you are operating your computer using a User-level account and not a Computer Administrator-level account. I agree with KeithT regarding your most likely not having a program installed capable of opening the file attachment. If you Google the file extension (the part of the fiel name after the "dot") you'll be able to ascertain which program is need. If it's a Microsoft Office program, there are free downloadable "viewer" programs at Microsoft.com.
