How do I use a download manager to download SP1?

Like Fraz (post last Wednesday) I only have a dial up connection and it would take me days to download SP1. Advice given in posts suggested using a download manager. Great idea I thought and whoopee I can now trash my laptop with SP1 and do it over a few days. But please can someone tell me how to persuade SP1 to use my download manager - Star Downloader? Windows Update just seems to overide it. Mind you I'm not very good at using download managers. If it doesn't do it automatically I'm lost. I hope someone can help as otherwise I will just have to block SP1 update and put up with an OS that becomes outdated. Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Find a friend or Library with Broadband, and a CD Burner or a usb port to copy to a Thumb drive. With a Dialup connection , I wouldn't try myself

Thanks for your reply. We in darkest rural parts can't get broadband my phone lineman just laughed long and hard when I asked if we might get it! So I bit the bullet and went for download by snail. Actually it only took 5 hours to download and only 30 mins to install. I must say I really thought the quick install meant it had failed. I keep checking Sys Info and it still says Service pack 1. Everything works OK and no wobblies - fingers crossed. I also would just like to say that I've learned a lot from your replies to posts and the links you suggest to folks are great too. Please keep up the good work because this is one technophobe who is very grateful. Regards Flissa.
