Have any you of people came across the IE icon on the desktop not being there when 
installing Vista?  I've tried the registry fix and it didn't work.

Yup, happened to me twice. I worked through this to fix it

Thanks Martin, that registry fix finally worked for me.  The thing is, I did that 
yesterday and it wouldn't work.  Weird...
