Front panel connector

Hi all
I am building a new pc for a friend and have now received all the new parts. I wan't
to use his original case but when I have come to dismantel his old parts I have found
that the front connector on the case is a nine pin connector but the new motherboard
an Asus p5K-VM has a connector that uses the seperate little plugs.
Is there a way around this or do I need a new case?
or is there an adapter that the nine pin case connector can use.
Please help.
P.s. the case is a Packard Bell.
Cheers
Matt.

If there is a good electronics part store near you, take cable the cable and motherboard
to them, and have them modify the cable with new motherboard-end connectors.

There is a reason that 15 years ago the brand aquired the name Packard HELL! For
$40 you can buy a generig case. Get over it.

go to the Asus web site find the manual for the board
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5K-VM
at the bottom of the page is the manuall, look under the connections and it should
tell you which pin is which, your connectors should be labled also, sometimes they
are not the exact same name as the boards name but you should be able to figure out
which one goes where.
P.S make sure you download the english version ...

Annoyances is SUPPOSED to cover software only, and the subject software is the various
MS Windows OS flavors. There are tens of thousands of hardware-oriented sites out
there on the 'net. Anand Tech is one I use and name to others. Try it.
