Is there a driver that will enable me to scan into Open Office?

If you want to convert the Text in a Scanned Document you need Optical character recognition (OCR) software. You can also save the scan as a jpeg picture and paste it into a Document, but can't really edit the text for obvious reasons.

The cut and paste I understand. I use Open Office and the program requires a scanner driver that I don't seem to have. Vista won't load HP Director. Is there an Open Office compatible scanner driver or a work around for HP Director in Vista that I can use? Thanks GH

I went to the HP Web site, and looked up your model. They do show a Vista Driver
for your scanner. I don't know what HP Director is, but at least a basic Driver seems
available.

I have basic print and scan functions. HP Director is the image software that came with the printer on the install cd. This is the program that Vista won't install.

Then contact HP tech support. I had a lot of old applications that would not work with Vista.

Try the Printer Forum at FixYourOwnPrinter, com. I found answers there before on problems with My Printer.
