taskbar issues

Hi,
I am having a problem with the taskbar and maximizing windows. Instead of the screen
adjusting to the taskbar being at the bottom, it instead maximizes to fit the entire
screen, thereby blocking the bottom portion of the application behind the taskbar.
This is extremely annoying, is there a way to fix this? What causes it?
Thank You,
Rodney C

Well first off try right clicking in a blankarea of the taskbar & then select properties/taskbar
& choose to keep on top. Secondly if you right click on the application icon for
e.g. you can select normal or maximised etc or have I misunderstood.

Hmm, maybe i'm not explaining it right.
When maximizing the screen, instead of the screen fitting (maximized to the task
bar at the bottom)...it's acting as if the task bar is not there and taking up the
full screen. So, it's not maximizing correctly. The task bar is not hidden, so
anything that is in that space behind it is blocked because it's not seeing the borders
of the screen properly and adjusting accordingly.
It might work for awhile, but then it will be screwed up again. No rhyme or reason
as to why it happens.
Thanks,
Rodney
