page file on USB

Hello everyone,
I need help with the pagefile issue. I moved the file to a USB external drive, I've
been doing it on XP successfully for years, however when I move the swap file to
an external drive using Vista Business (i have a VAIO VGN-N11M laptop) the system
crashes everytime i try to shutdown, reboot or hibernate the system... Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

Interesting. I have never seen this issue before since I would not advocate the use
of an external drive to hold the pagefile, mostly for the simple reason that it is
too easily disconnected and doing so will crash your system. I think what might be
happening is that Vista is closing down the usb interface before finishing with the
pagefile and thus the system crashes, while XP behaves in a different way. Only guessing
though - just a brain fart for you. Hope this helps. Cheers. Spexx.
You are not paranoid. They really do have it in for you.

Just use Readyboost instead. It is kinda the same.

thanks for your thoughts and suggestions, just to clarify I already use ReadyBoost
as a solution, it's much slower than using a pagefile on a separate drive. By the
way pagefile and readyboost are NOT the same thing as the latter one is kinda file
caching mechanism. Using the second page file, however, for "load balancing" rocks,
it really speeds up your system, and when the usb drive is removed the system just
fails over to the boot drive (Drive C in my case). All the Best

Sounds interesting. How do I set this up on mine?
