Have you tried starting the machine in Safe Mode?

I don't know if it will start, but pressing F8 continually as soon as the boot process
begins would be worth trying.

At the bottom of that page is a link to diagnostic tools to use if the computer will
start in Safe Mode.

Standard advice: When confronted with an error message, use Google (or whatever your
religion is...) to search for it. I did this with "Loaded: \Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys"
[no quotation marks, of course], which turned up a number of possible sources of
assistance.

You could very well have damaged either the power supply or the motherboard. It doesn't
take much of a power surge. If piddling with the system and other files doesn't get
you going, I would look at that. Also I'm not just talking about plugging in a power
supply test module. It could have popped a capacitor or a diode in the power regulation
portion of the MoBo. Try hitting the reset about 2 seconds into the boot-up. I have
an old box I still use, but because it has a leaky capacitor onboard I have to wait
for a couple of seconds for the drives to start to spin up then reboot. It can't
take the initial load of the entire system. The boot on this one doesn't fail till
it gets finished with the scroll. On the other hand if I do it as described it starts
every time like a Timex. That is an annoyance I am willing to live with. The worst
this it could cause is some noise on the motherboard.

I would really like to hear any update info you have to share.
