Not a Vista question, an Epson one.

The printer should have come with a CD of software for you to install. Amongst the
software would have been the Epson Scan program. Did you not install it?

Victor, I don't know if we are talking at cross-purposes here, but "driver" means
system-level software which controls the hardware. The user doesn't interact with
the driver as such, but uses application software, here Epson Scan, to do the job.
(Forgive me if you know all this, just let's be sure!)
So, when you were installing the printer/scanner, it should have installed both things.
Here is what the Epson website says is included with your machine:
Epson printer driver, Epson Print CD, Web to Page, Epson Scan, ArcSoft® PhotoImpression.
So, if you selected the default installation, you should have got Epson Scan loaded.
I would suggest you unstall all the Epson stuff, disconnect the printer and reboot
your PC. Then install again, following instructions carefully. If you have no joy,
its time to contact Epson support via their website.
Good Luck
