Windows Mail Crashing

Lately, when opening an attachment, Windows Mail crashes. The same happens when trying to save the attachment to the HD. I thought it might be a compatibility issue with my anti virus program but I deleted one and tried to delete AVG but it didn't seem to delete properly (error message when using uninstall feature in Windows and some files will not permit me to delete them manually from my programs folder). Despite deleting (sort of) the anti virus programs the problem with Windows Mail persists. Does anyone know how to solve this? Any, and all, advice is appreciated.

My perfect record shall continue, as I have never opened Windows Mail; therefore,
I have no idea if this link will lead you to the solution that I would use, namely
not using Windows Mail, which "solution" of course would not fix the problem(s) that
this link might provide:

(If you actually understand what I wrote above, then you have a problem that I cannot
solve...).
