not sure if problem is with permissions, but have installed malwarebytes, it crashes 
when i start it and when i go to folder to run it, the icon is not recognised and 
when i click on the actual exe it says windows cannot access the file and that i 
may not have permission.. when  try copy it to another location it also says u dont 
have permission. think im going mad here!!!!

Right click it. go to start, programs menu, scroll until you find it and right click it, select run as administrator. Reopen.

Most likely a malware infection blocking it. The smart ones prevent common removal 
tools from running and block access to removal sites. Try running it in safe mode, 
if that fails I would go to a malware removal forum for help.

Could be file corruption. To fix that run CHKDSK /r, this has worked for me many times. Or right click drive->Properties->Tools->Check for errors, repair files
