MS Office: turn off auto whole-word select?

A (minor) MS Office annoyance: When you try to select a part of a sentence in Word, as your highlight passes over a space, Word insists on changing your selection to include the entire word and/or adjacent spaces. If you go back over the space, without releasing the selection, Word undoes this automatic whole-word+space selection. I can see how this feature can be used effectively by sloppy selectors, but I would much prefer to keep my selection exactly as I selected it, without the extra re-highlight step. I don't image it's possible, but I would love to turn the feature off entirely.

It is possible, look in the menu options. I changed it years ago. You might want
to post the question at Woody's Office Forum:
www.wopr.com
You can also use Word's Help, which is what I did.

Well, yes. Actually Office Help has been pretty good since Office 97.
I use it myself when I run into similar problems. It's a lot faster than asking in
a forum.
