Every time I put anything in the Disk Drive an icon is created on the desktop. I
do not wish for that to happen. Is there somewhere I can turn that function off?

Have you scanned for viruses and malware recently? if not scan your PC for both and see if that solves your problem.

Thanks for the thought, but I scan on boot up, after any browsing and just before
I log off. I discovered some of the icons fade on their own. Like when I insert a
music CD, an icon appears. But when I remove the CD it fades out. Perhaps the other
times I am just too impatient.

If it is not a custom build it might be worth poking around the OEM installed programs
to add extra "cool" stuff to the computer. Might be something in there that does
it for your conveyance.
