How to Blick a single port by number

Can someone advise me if it’s possible to use Windows Firewall to block a single
port? I searched for this over the Internet, but none of the responses addressed
the issue. Each time the OP gave an example port to block and the discussion turned
into ways of blocking the program.
Can someone tell me if it’s possible to block port 80 using Windows’ Firewall. After
that I’d like to run on port 80 for example, then block port 81.
If it’s not possible to do this with Windows Firewall, can someone tell me of a very
simple third party firewall that can easily be installed for the purpose of blocking
specific ports.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments.

The Windows Firewall can do this but you'll find it easiest to use a 3rd party GUI
to set it up.
Here's one I've used - there are lots more and you may care to do your own search
to find something that meets your requirements.

BTW its a really bad idea to post your email address in a forum - mail-gatherers
crawl the net all the time looking for spam (and worse) victims - no point in protecting
your PC if you publish stuff like this :-(

Do you happen to know how to do it with Windows Firewall? I can only see ways of
enabling port. I can’t see any way to block ports.
I downloaded the GUI. It appears to be the same way. It seems that you can add
ports (as with Windows Firewall) for opening.
Is it possible that you can mention steps with Windows Firewall that will block a
single port? Port 80 for example? Or is it possible that you can mention steps
using the Windows Firewall Port & Application Manager to block a port? Port 80 for
example?
By the way, this thread isn’t about my intentions in trying to protect a PC, it’s
about studying the functionality of various ports. The PC is quite protected.
There’s a story behind the stamp on my messages. I kind of hate to distract from
learning how to block ports in Windows, since, as I mention I searched the Internet
before posting my question. The question is referenced many times, but it’s never
answered. The thread always goes into a different direction.
Thanks for the input. Thanks also for the suggestion and warning about spam and
security. A person practically has to apply for access to get pass my spam filter.

Actually I’m trying to find any way, easy or complicated, to block a single port
in Windows. If your easier way is a closely guarded secret, I understand your desire
not to share, but if it isn’t, I’d appreciate if you can share the information.
Since my posting here I downloaded Zone Alarm Firewall. I thought they would have
some feature for blocking a port. But the only thing I can find with it is protecting
the compute, blocking programs and IP addresses and zones.
It shows which ports has been contacted, blocked along with lots of other data information,
but I can’t see an option to specifically block a port.
If anybody can contribute to this, thanks in advance. If I find a way with any program
for Windows I’ll update the topic for others who might want to block a specific port.
Thanks in advance for anyone who shares input.

Don't be so rude !
I have indeed forgotten, since I used the 3rd party software I pointed you to and
which did the job.
End of conversation.

I don’t know where “rude” comes into the picture. I feel it would have been rude
of me to the user offering to help and to the group by not reporting back the results.
It would appear that the suggestion worked and I was rude not to let anyone know
and not to express appreciation. Also, there would be no need for anyone who have
input that might actually work to contribute to the topic.
In this case, your suggestion doesn’t work. I don’t know what it is that you’re
saying you forgot. I don’t know if you’re saying you forgot how to use Windows Firewall,
or that you forgot how to use the GUI that you suggested would allow blocking a single
port.
I asked you how to use the GUI that you say you use, for blocking a single port.
I understand that you can’t if you don’t remember (or know how) to use it.
I immediately tried your suggestion and it failed as far as I could get. There is
a help feature that also doesn’t work. So there isn’t a way to actually figure out
how to use the application. I thought you might have considered sharing how you
use it to block a port. But again, I don’t mean to be rude. It’s clear that you
can’t help if you don’t know how to use it. Also, I’m kind of under the impression
that Windows Firewall can’t block a single port. It can only secure the computer
and open up specific ports. If that’s the case, having a GUI to control an application
that can’t do the task in the first place is almost certainly bound to fail.
I believe this information is important to the thread, since the question comes up
often as I have mentioned, but so far all the responses are extremely vague.
For anyone familiar with Firewalls and Ports, does anyone know of any way, using
Windows Firewall or any other application, to block a single port, not by program,
but by port number?
By the way, I do this all the time with Linux. I use a program called iptables.
On that, does anyone know of an application similar to iptables for Windows Vista?
Thanks in advance for anyone who has any input on this matter.
