I spent a few hours wrestling with IE6 Internet Options, because something (trialware like HI Client, Acrobat Rdr, Copernic, etc..) had caused my IE6 to FAIL when attempting to open a link in a new window. The new window can always be 'forced' by right-clicking on a link and selecting that option from the resulting context menu. IF your IE6 fails in this way, go to Support.msn.com and look up Article ID: Q180176 ('Open in New Window' Command Does Not Work in Internet Explorer') The solution described works well enough for IE6. (Cold restart helps).
