I have some similar USB problems, no loose cables. At times the USB devices (always plugged in) will be recognized, but when I go to use on, it will shut down, and I need to unplug and re-plug it back in, which it then works! I suspect it is a non compliant XP driver for the device at this time, though XP does have ENOUGH bugs of its own... maybe it is part of the re-assigning/re-lettering hard ware that the MS paper spoke of regarding an XP bug on the MS site! I sure know the re-assigning/re-lettering was a pain for my RAID system until I removed ALL secondary drive with any bootable OS on them. Until then, even though my boot drive was selected through HTP bios as my RAID systeem, XP would sometimes boot from a secondary drive! This would happen every several days or so!!! Once that was done, the boot sector had been corrupted on the RAID and I had to R-re-fdisk it and reformat it and then re-install the software or mirror back to it. Now I keep all secondary drive off my system which have a bootable OS! No problems now for almost a month! Hope this helps, Spanky Hope this helps, Spanky
