Mine worked fine in Windows 2000 but not with XP. The ForceASPI trick didn't work for me. Recently I tried two things, and one or both of them seemed to have done the trick: 1) There is a small <1MB Windows Update for CDR issues. Run Windows Update at the top of the start menu and install this from the list. 2) Switched drive to PIO mode from DMA mode in the Device Manager.
